There’s a new high school opening in Mesa this fall that hasn’t fully hit the radar yet...but it probably will.

It’s called NEWS Point Academy, and it’s located right on the Arizona Athletic Grounds. On paper, it checks boxes that typically don’t exist in one place...especially not at a tuition-free public charter school.

And if you’re a parent in the East Valley, this is the kind of thing that quietly changes the equation.

What Makes This School Different?

Let’s start with the basics:

Tuition-free
International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum
Dual enrollment opportunities
A built-in 90-minute athletic training block during the school day
Sports fees capped at $250

That combination is… not normal.

Programs like this usually come with a hefty price tag...often $20,000 to $30,000 per year at private schools. Or they require families to relocate entirely to access something similar.

Now it’s here. In Mesa.

Built for Both Academics and Athletics

Most schools tend to lean one direction: strong academics or strong athletics.

This model is intentionally built for both.

The IB curriculum is globally recognized and known for being rigorous. It’s the kind of academic track that prepares students for competitive colleges and develops strong critical thinking skills.
