Chandler, Meet Your New Pizza Crush: Best Pizza & Brew Is Coming in 2026
Heads up, Chandler foodies—we’ve got a delicious newcomer on the way. Best Pizza & Brew, a fast-casual pizzeria + taproom beloved across San Diego, is making its first-ever out-of-state move right here to Chandler, taking over the former Gadzooks space at 2855 W. Frye Rd. (that’s the NW corner of Arizona Ave & Frye, near downtown and next to The Sleepy Whale). They’re targeting a January 2026 opening.
Why I’m Excited (and You Should Be Too)
-
Two iconic styles, one roof: Expect New York–style slices and Detroit-style squares—crispy-edged, cheesy, saucy perfection—plus wings, loaded fries, salads, and sandwiches. Dessert people, they’ve teased butterscotch pudding and even root beer floats.
-
Beer lovers: prepare yourselves. The brand is known for a lively taproom vibe with house-brewed beers (think blonde ale, IPA, hazy IPA) alongside rotating regional taps. Game days? Plastered with TVs. Patio hangs? On the agenda.
-
A proven favorite: Born in 2013, Best Pizza & Brew has grown across Southern California on the strength of scratch-made dough, fresh ingredients, and a high-energy atmosphere. Chandler’s will mirror that formula.
The Exact Spot (and What Was There)
You probably remember Gadzooks Enchiladas & Soup—they closed earlier this year, and Best Pizza & Brew will slide into that address, 2855 W. Frye Rd., Chandler 85224, right by The Sleepy Whale. It’s a high-traffic corner with easy access before or after downtown events.
What to Order First
Based on fan-favorite chatter and menu highlights from their California shops, put these on your day-one list:
-
Meatball Parmesan, Pesto Chicken Burrata, or Honey Basil pies (NY or Detroit style)
-
Wings (multiple sauces) + Loaded Fries as shareables
-
A house brew or local guest tap to wash it down
Dessert? Split that butterscotch pudding—trust me, friends don’t let friends skip dessert. -
Community Vibes, Chandler Energy
What I love most is how this concept blends great pizza with a neighborhood taproom feel—a perfect match for Chandler’s growing, walkable core. It’s a natural pre- or post-game spot, an easy family dinner, or a meetup with friends when you “just want a slice and a pint.” And yes, the plan includes indoor/outdoor seating plus takeout.
When Can We Go?
The team says they’re aiming for January 2026. I’ll keep tabs on construction and soft-opening whispers and share updates as soon as they drop. If you’re a “first taste” kind of person, make sure you’re on my newsletter so you don’t miss opening week details.
