Best Pizza & Brew, a fast-casual pizzeria + taproom beloved across San Diego, is making its first-ever out-of-state move right here to Chandler, taking over the former Gadzooks space at 2855 W. Frye Rd. (that’s the NW corner of Arizona Ave & Frye, near downtown and next to The Sleepy Whale). They’re targeting a January 2026 opening.

Why I’m Excited (and You Should Be Too)

• Two iconic styles, one roof: Expect New York–style slices and Detroit-style squares—crispy-edged, cheesy, saucy perfection—plus wings, loaded fries, salads, and sandwiches. Dessert people, they’ve teased butterscotch pudding and even root beer floats.

• Beer lovers: prepare yourselves. The brand is known for a lively taproom vibe with house-brewed beers (think blonde ale, IPA, hazy IPA) alongside rotating regional taps. Game days? Plastered with TVs. Patio hangs? On the agenda.

• A proven favorite: Born in 2013, Best Pizza & Brew has grown across Southern California on the strength of scratch-made dough, fresh ingredients, and a high-energy atmosphere. Chandler’s will mirror that formula.

You probably remember Gadzooks Enchiladas & Soup—they closed earlier this year, and Best Pizza & Brew will slide into that address, 2855 W. Frye Rd., Chandler 85224, right by The Sleepy Whale. It’s a high-traffic corner with easy access before or after downtown events.

Based on fan-favorite chatter and menu highlights from their California shops, put these on your day-one list:

• Meatball Parmesan, Pesto Chicken Burrata, or Honey Basil pies (NY or Detroit style)
